ACT 235 CERTIFICATION PROCEDURES

Four(4) Steps For Certification

Steps 1-3 Can Be Done in Any Order

Step 4 Can Only Be Done After Written Authorization From Pennsylvania State Police.

Effective November 1, 2007, Basic Certification Students May Not Attend Training UNTIL They Receive Written Authorization From The State.

Fingerprints/Background Check:

Call State Police Barracks before you go!

Take Completed application sections 1-34. (SKIP WAIVER PORTIONS)

Take a eighty dollar and twenty-five cent ($80.25) Money Order made out to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Take some type of photo identification.

Physical Examination:

Schedule physical with your choice of doctor.

Take physical application form for doctor to complete.

Be sure doctor submits form within 15 days from exam date. (If necessary, Shield can assist you in contacting a physician once you are registered . Contact us for more information.)

Psychological Examination:

Schedule psychological exam with psychologist of your choice.

Take psychological form to doctor to complete.

Be sure doctor submits form within 15 days from exam date. (Shield can assist you in contacting a psychologist once you are registered. Contact us for more information.)

Shield Police/Security Training Certification:

After all three (3) above elements are complete you will receive a letter from the state. You can only attend the school after you receive this letter from the state.

Attend Shield four (4) day basic certification course.

Bring the letter along with thirty dollar ($30.00) money order made out to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to the first day of class.

Failure to bring the letter to the first day will result in your not being able to attend the class.

Shield will submit your letter, payment, and grades to the state for final processing and your card will normally be sent out within four (4) weeks. To Check on the status of your application, click here

MONEY IS NOT REFUNDABLE

Pre-Registration for each class ends three weeks prior to the first class day. Any students registering for a class after this date will be assessed an additional fee in order to attend. A student can also choose to wait and attend a future class.
